I also took a good look at the overall piece just now, and I must say, the soft-touching and and detail is looking very nice so far. If I may make a suggestion, however...you could add some shading to the kids if you feel so inspired. That would not only add to the pixel shading everywhere else, but also would put some unity to the piece. Hope this helps you.
